It’s time to start thinking about how to show the special mom or mom figure in your life just how much you appreciate them.

This year, why not celebrate mom in a way that’s both memorable and sustainable? If you’re looking for Mother’s Day ideas in Toronto, we’ve got you covered. From hiking and biking to exploring the Farmers Market, there are plenty of outdoor activities at the Brick Works.

Here are seven fun ways to celebrate Mother’s Day.

1. Explore the trails and ravines

Is there a better gift than quality time together? Take a break from city life and explore one of the largest ravine systems in the entire world. Evergreen Brick Works has been a gateway to the ravine system since the site became our home all the way back in 2010. Keep an eye out for deer, hawks, herons and other wildlife.

2. Find a gift at Evergreen Garden Market

There’s no other place like the Evergreen Garden Market, Toronto’s home for a curated selection of local food, home decor, books, children’s games and toys, and a rotation of seasonal products. The Market will even have a few special goodies perfect for a Mother’s Day gift. Already have a gift? Bring mom and just explore the selection of products from artisans, craftspeople and small-batch producers from across the country.

3. Explore public art

Going to see public art is practically tailor-made for Mother’s Day. It’s a great bonding experience, it allows you to spend time outdoors, and, best of all, there’s no cost! Evergreen’s public art program features both local and international artists.

4. Have a brunch date on the largest patio in Toronto

Starting in May, weekends at the Brick Works are the place to be. Grab a bite to eat and catch some pop up entertainment on the city’s biggest patio — we’ve got a delicious lineup of local food and drink vendors, including Magic Oven, Estelle’s Caribbean Cuisine and Salvadorian Grill. And, because Mother’s Day and brunch are basically synonymous, stop by Picnic Cafe and Wine Shop to grab bite to eat, a coffee or even a gift basket for those other moms in your life.

7. Sharpen your gardening skills

Ready to plant your vegetable seedlings in the garden or on your balcony? Stop by the Farmers Market Welcome Cart anytime between 8am to 1pm for our drop-in planting workshop. Certain plant families do well together, and others are more competitive, potentially decreasing yields. Certain herbs and flowers can help deter harmful pests and attract pollinators and beneficial bugs. With this workshop, you will learn about what to plant where, and with whom in your garden or on your balcony.
