With summer just around the corner, we want to celebrate our 2025-2026 school visits season and express our gratitude to all those who visited the Brick Works and participated in our curriculum-based outdoor experiential learning programs.

This past school year, we welcomed over 8,000 students, provided 3,736 bursaries, offered over 15 programs for K-Grade 12, including the new Creating Our Climate Future program (Grade 10 & 11) and the Energy Matters (Grade 5). Together, we learned about local ecology, soil layers, animal behaviour, energy cycles, watershed management, climate change and more through hands-on experiential learning, risky play, team building, arts and craft and by exploring the Don Valley trails in all seasons.

Above all, what makes these school visits even more special is hearing the excitement and gratitude the visiting students share with our dedicated and hard-working team of outdoor educators who go above and beyond in rain, sun and snow to provide the most engaging and enjoyable experience for all students.

Here are some highlights from our 2025-2026 School Visits season at Evergreen Brick Works:

Grade 1-3 students warming up by the fire and roasting apples in the Winter Wilds program.

Students enjoying ice skating and apple roasting in our Fire and Ice program.

Participating in the Water, Water, Everywhere program by building animal homes in the Children’s Garden on a snowy January day.

I think it was great how they taught us how to make fires. It was good that they made us go hiking to find different animals. I learned a lot of different things about animals and we got to make cinnamon apples. It was so good and they were so nice to us. Thank you.

Grade 3-5 students practicing their fire building skills in the Fire Challenge program.

Welcoming the spring season in the Children’s Garden.

I really want to come here again; will this place still be here when I’m 16 and allowed to come by myself?

Grade 3 student

JK/SK students looking for critters in the pond through the Urban Animal Adventures program.

A Grade 3 and grade 5 Eco Club assisting our gardening team during a custom compost program.

Thank you to all those who plan, prepare, visit, volunteer and facilitate these programs in the past school year. Looking ahead, we’re opening Fall Registration for School Visits at Evergreen Brick Works on Tuesday, September 1 with programs running from Monday, September 28 to Friday, December 18.

We cannot wait to welcome you back for the 2026-2027 school year.
