Our resourceful team accomplished an incredible summer, despite the unprecedented challenges from July's flood.

What an eventful summer!

On July 16th, Evergreen Brick Works faced its most severe flood since opening in 2010, with some areas under more than four feet of water. We are so grateful and proud of our team for keeping everybody safe while evacuating 113 campers. Few campers even ended up finding a sense of adventure in the situation!

Though our campers, counsellors, volunteers and staff stayed safe, our beloved Brick Works was severely impacted causing our team to pivot in providing a safe and fun camp for the rest of the season. We thank our resourceful team for accomplishing a successful summer despite such unprecedented challenges and we thank our campers and families for being understanding and supportive as we navigated this event. With fall soon approaching, we wanted to celebrate our 2024 Adventure Camp season and express our gratitude to everyone who made this summer wild, fun and creative!

This past summer, we introduced two new explorer groups, the Minnows (Intermediates) and the Otters (Seniors), thus increasing our capacity to have more young explorers experience Adventure Camp at the Brick Works. We introduced our new Outdoor Leadership Course where youth (ages 14-17) gained skills through professional pathways to prepare themselves for working in the outdoor leadership space. We explored the quarry and surrounding trails on foot and bike, crafted with clay, engraved wood cookies, learned about local wildlife through pond dipping and sang our hearts out during camp concert!
