Equip yourself with the knowledge and tools like the Outdoor Mindset to embrace outdoor learning in any weather. The seasons and the rhythms of the natural world provide both the content and the context so curiosity and learning can go hand-in-hand. This workshop focuses on the importance of year-round outdoor education, providing participants with practical strategies to adapt activities and create inclusive and engaging outdoor experiences in all seasons. Participants will leave feeling prepared to spend more time outdoors, have a repertoire of seasonal activities and practical approaches to navigate any challenges that rain, shine, or snow may bring.

Beyond ‘Be Careful’ – Risky Play in Practice: Two things are true: outdoor risky play is critical to help kids build confidence, resilience and real-world decision-making skills, AND it can be challenging as educators to find our footing on the path from “as safe as possible” to “as safe as necessary”. This session balances risk management and risky play, giving participants the tools they need to feel grounded and confident facilitating outdoor play experiences with the children they support. Join us to explore practical strategies to assess dynamic outdoor learning environments, manage hazards in the moment, and advocate for the importance and benefits of risky outdoor play with colleagues, caregivers, and community. Participants will come away feeling ready to move beyond ‘be careful’ and put risky play into practice!

“

Our teachers came away from the workshop excited and inspired about their new found knowledge and are eager to start implementing many of the ideas into their curriculum. It was the most fun workshop we have had to date and I would say also the most inspiring to make important changes for the sake of our students.
