Join the amazing women of Newcomer Kitchen at Evergreen's Winter Village to learn how to cook a delicious range of Syrian treats.
Workshops will allow guests to delve into Syrian cuisine through a choice of three workshops, which each focus on making either an array of holiday sweets, a selection of vibrant and flavorful traditional dips, or traditional fatayer pastries.
During a two and a half hour long class, participants will learn alongside Newcomer Kitchen's skilled team of cooks how to replicate dishes and flavours from across Syria.
This event is hosted in partnership with Newcomer Kitchen.
Holiday Sweets Workshop
Come and share the joy of crafting time honoured Syrian holiday sweets.
Baklava shaped in little rounds filled with pistachios and brushed with flavoured syrups looks complicated but are fast and simple once you know the secret technique! Mamoul are tender butter cookies stuffed with date or apricot paste and formed in traditional cookie molds. Listen to the Syrian ladies share their family stories as you prepare these precious cookies to nibble and take a box home. Rounding out the workshop you will learn to make Arabic coffee the traditional way.

More Holiday Sweets Workshop
Come and share the joy of crafting time honored Syrian holiday sweets.
In this workshop you will make Qatyef, little semolina pancakes filled with a ricotta cream, dipped in pistachio crumbs and drizzled with lemon and rose water syrup. Next, we will make simple and light Baklava Lydia. To round out the afternoon we will make a unique cake called S'fouf. Flavored with anise, sesame, coconut and studded with black nigella seeds, its sunny yellow hue comes from turmeric. Listen to the Syrian ladies share their family stories as you prepare these delicious desserts to nibble over a glass of mint tea and take a box home.

Holiday Fatayer Workshop
Come and share the fun of making Fatayer!
These tempting pastries are made with fresh dough and filled with three filling types: Cheese & Parsley, Spinach & Onion, or Muhummara - a rich and slightly spicy paste made of roasted red peppers, walnuts, sesame seeds and flavored with pomegranate molasses and Aleppo pepper. Baked to golden perfection they can be made tiny for appetizers or larger for a lunchtime main course.

Holiday Dips Workshop
Get into the holiday spirit by making dips to share with family and friends.
Learn to make three delicious dips along with freshly baked pita chips ready to fill your sesonal table with color, flavor and healthy eating. The welcoming ladies of Newcomer Kitchen will show you how in this hands on holiday event.
