Seedy Sunday 2018
Exchange seeds, attend workshops and learn how to start your urban garden at our annual Seedy Sunday.
On Sunday, March 18, join us for our annual Seedy Sunday at Evergreen Brick Works. With this year’s activities focused around the important topic of pollinators, this family-friendly event is a great way to get a jump start on your urban garden ideas.
Alongside CSA vendors & seed vendors, we will be hosting the Toronto Seed Library and a range of urban agriculturists & partner-led workshops, as well as hands-on activities led by our own team of growers, worm wranglers & vermicomposters.
There will also be live music & delicious food in our Local Food Court!
11am | Andrea Berry
Our first speaker will be Andrea Berry from Hope Seeds to discuss women in farming, and the importance of seed farming.
12pm | Peter Chorabik
Our second speaker will be Peter Chorabik from Toronto Bee Rescue to discuss pollination, the work that Toronto Bee Resue does, and the importance of pollinators to our food system.
1pm | Lara Lucretia Mrosovsky
Our third speaker will be Lara Lucretia Mrosovsky who will be presenting a workshop on roof top gardens and gardening in small spaces.
With more and more Torontonians living in condos and apartments, this talk is a must for aspiring urban growers who just don’t have the space for traditional gardening, but want to take steps toward feeding themselves in the city.
2pm | Ripple Aquaponics
Our fourth and final speaker will be Ripple Aquaponics, who will be discussing their aquaponics farm located on the south side of our site along with their latest technology.
