Toronto: Beverage Coordinator

Are you a beer or wine enthusiast? Do you enjoy meeting new people and getting to know local, Ontario vendors? Evergreen is looking to hire a full time Beverage Coordinator to help support our events and strengthen our ties with local breweries and vineyards that support our local mandate.

Overview: The Beverage Coordinator is responsible for the buying, pricing and servicing of beverages for beverage programs at Evergreen Brick Works. The Beverage Coordinator will support internal and third party events, as well as the public-serving Sipping Container.                

Key Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Facilitate the execution of beverage service at events and, including client tastings and recommendations, beverage logistics (including purchases and returns) and overall beverage coordination
  • Liaise directly with clients to finalize complex beverage requirements
  • Oversee beverage service staff onsite at events
  • Order product required for all events based on inventory counts and client requirements
  • Maintain secure and organize beverage storage
  • Develop strategic relationships with suppliers and integrate new products into the Evergreen beverage program
  • Maintain liquor regulations as set out by the A.G.C.O.
  • Curate, analyze and review beverage package and offerings to remain current and represent the Evergreen mission and brand
  • Generate quarterly reports to outline profit and loss data
  • Assist with coordinating staffing for the beverage programs

Inventory Management

  • Ensure accurate consumption records are maintained
  • Responsible for monthly inventory counts and reconciliation

Policies & Procedures

  • Seek efficiencies in current processes
  • Maintain and improve beverage control policies and procedures
  • Maintain liquor regulations as set out by the A.G.C.O.
  • Set up and implement systems for safe beverage handling and cleaning
  • Enforce provincial liquor legislation and regulations

  • Attention to detail. Does not let important details slip through the cracks.
  • Customer-focus. Anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of internal and external customers/donors to meet or exceed their expectations and receives positive feedback from internal and external customers/donors.
  • Planning/Organization.  Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals and focus on priorities, create/implement action plans/budgets, document, evaluate, learn.
  • Communication. Speak, listen and write in a clear, confident, respectful, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

Reporting relationships

  • Supervised by: Senior Manager, Hospitality and Events

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in the hospitality industry
  • Smart Serve certified required
  • 2-4 years of experience with inventory management and costing
  • Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel
  • First-aid/CPR certification an asset

Working conditions

  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment

Physical requirements

  • Some lifting
  • Long period of standing
