Robert Plitt

Robert oversees Evergeen CityWorks, Evergreen’s suite of programs focused on tackling critical urban infrastructure issues. He has worked for two decades in Toronto co-creating transformative civic asset revitalization projects including the redevelopment of Evergreen Brick Works, the Wychwood Barns and the Distillery District. Prior to his role as Executive Director of CityWorks he was Director of Collective Impact where he developed Evergreen’s Action Lab program and curated multi-sector collaborations focused on systems change at national and regional scales.


Lhazin Nedup

Lhazin leads 100In1Day, a festival of civic engagement that demonstrates the capacity citizens have in creating a better city, and the Civic Commons project. Prior to her role at CityWorks she was with Ashoka Canada where she focussed on leveraging partnerships with stakeholders and supported the Ashoka Changemaker’s competition. During university, Lhazin worked with the Kawartha World Issues Centre, co-designing and facilitating workshops and programs that focused on socio-economic and environmental issues.


Jay Carter

Hamilton Project Manager, CityWorks

Living and working in Hamilton, Jay helps to transform existing local ideas into action through co-created engagement projects, capacity building workshops, fostering multi-sectoral problem solving, community project support, and the delivery of 100In1Day in Hamilton. Prior to joining the CityWorks team, Jay helped in forming the Hamilton Sustainability Professionals Network, Environment Hamilton’s Bicycle Air Monitoring Program, and Hamilton’s Engagement Committee and has held a variety of positions with the City of Hamilton.


Jo Flatt

Jo leads several initiatives as part of the CityWorks team, including the Mid-Sized City Building Program, to enhance the social, economic and environmental prosperity of Ontario’s mid-sized cities; the laneway housing prototype; and the design and development of a regional sustainability coalition. In her spare time, Jo works on a variety of projects to increase the participation and engagement of Toronto residents on key city issues, whether through bus tours, pop up art events, or workshops. Before joining CityWorks, Jo worked in urban sustainability consulting at The Next Practice. She completed her Masters at the University of Toronto’s School of Public Policy and Governance and an undergraduate degree in commerce at McGill University.


Michelle German

Senior Project Manager

Michelle manages the organization’s housing and transportation portfolios. In her role she provides backbone support to several groups including the GTA Housing Action Lab, Move the GTHA and Toronto Cycling Action Lab. She works collaboratively with multi sectoral stakeholders in these program areas to deliver research and projects aimed at advancing public policy agendas that support better and more affordable housing, building complete communities and continued investment in transportation infrastructure.

Prior to her role at Evergreen, Michelle worked Municipally and Federally as a political advisor as well as for Toronto Public Health for the Food Strategy team. Michelle holds a Masters in Environmental Policy.

The CityWorks Advisory Council provides strategic guidance to staff on city building opportunities and initiatives.
