Evergreen has 25 years’ experience empowering Canadians to take direct action for the health of their bodies, minds, communities and the environment.
We have recognized expertise in the volunteerism, capacity-building and wellness realms, particularly around community gardening, healthy food preparation, urban green space stewardship and healthy recreation activities. We want to invite our young at heart community (55+) to engage in the following activities:
Guided tours of the Evergreen Brick Works—a former brick factory transformed by Evergreen into an award-winning community environmental centre and green technology showcase.
Participants will learn about the industrial, geological, ecological and cultural history of the site and take a behind the scenes look at the ground-breaking LEED Platinum green technology as well as the unique artwork and installations on-site.
Tours take place weekly from 2–3pm on Saturdays. Evergreen is happy to schedule speciality tours for your groups of 10 or more!
Please visit our Site Tours page for more information.
Participate in group-based activities that promote physical activity, healthy living and stress relief.
Activities may include Nordic walking, walking/hiking, skating, cycling, gardening and/or healthy cooking/community kitchen workshops.
To book your visit please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Participate in a range of activities such as community garden stewardship, children's program facilitation, public visitor engagement, and more. Be trained as volunteer leader and will share your skills and expertise with peers and community members of all ages by leading guided tours of Evergreen Brick Works, horticultural groups, guided walks and/or other activities.
See our Volunteer Opportunities page for more information.
Evergreen needs you to help our gardens thrive!
Join us at Evergreen Brick Works on Tuesdays from 9am–12pm (until November 2) for a new drop-in program called the Garden Circle.
This opportunity is geared towards individuals and small groups looking to have greater involvement caring for our site—from seasonal, light-touch stewardship to high-impact and integrated land-based projects.
Participants are invited to join us for single Garden Circles or on consecutive occasions over the course of the growing season to see the site develop and work on specific larger ongoing projects alongside trained program staff and landscape professionals.
This program aims to foster a greater familiarity with the site as well as a sense of belonging to Evergreen's amazing network of stewards, land-based programmers and volunteers. It's free and there is no need to register beforehand. Just drop down and meet at the Watershed Wall if you feel the need to get your hands dirty!
Garden Circle welcomes participants of all ages and levels of gardening experience. Everyone's welcome!
