Photography Policy

Nestled in Toronto’s lush ravines in a setting of awe-inspiring heritage buildings, Evergreen Brick Works is the ideal venue for your personal photography, commercial photo shoots, family pictures, or wedding and engagement photo shoots.

Fees

The photography permit fee is $350 (HST included) and allows access to take photos throughout the exterior of the site, including the Frances and Tim Price Terrace, and the Pavilions, for a maximum of 2 hours.

Please note that all venues are subject to availability, and the photo permit does not guarantee access. All revenues generated by photography permits are used to enhance public programming on site.

Please Note: Taking photos of visiting schoolchildren and day camp participants is not permitted at any time.

Requesting a permit

For all photography enquiries, please email photography@evergreen.ca. Include your full name, phone number, and date and time of photo shoot. Please note that all photography permit inquiries are answered within 72 hours.

Timing

The photography permit allows you to shoot for 2 hours during your specified time. Evergreen books up to 6 permits per day, and we try to have as minimal overlap as possible to ensure a great experience for everyone.

Photography permits are available for 2 hour timeslots during:

Monday – Friday: 9am-5pm
Saturday: 9am-12pm
Sunday: 10am-12pm

Commercial photography & filming

Commercial photography and filming prices depend on the nature of your photo shoot and the areas/venues preferred for use. Contracts for commercial film shoots are negotiated directly with Evergreen’s Events staff; please contact events@evergreen.ca.

FAQ

Can I reschedule my photo shoot if the weather is too bad or if the site floods?

n the event of a flood or bad weather conditions, Evergreen agrees to provide you with a comparable booking, without additional fees, for the next best available date.

What is your cancellation policy?

In the event of a cancellation, a written notice of cancellation is required at least 48 hours prior to the photo shoot. If notice is not received 48 hours prior to the shoot, there is no refund. Administration fees are charged for cancellations (20% of the Permit fee). These fees are non-refundable.

How should I pay for my permit?

Once you have confirmed with our photography representative that photography permits are available on the day of your photo shoot, you will be asked to fill out an online payment form with your credit card or PayPal information. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards, as well as PayPal payments.

When does your site close?

Our buildings are open to the public Monday to Friday from 9am–5pm, Saturday 8am–5pm, and Sunday 10am–5pm.

Please note that our washrooms are only accessible when the public facilities are open.

How many photo permits do you allow per day?

The number of photo permits allowed per day can vary and depends on the public activities we have on site. However, we do not exceed 6 photo permits per day.

What equipment can I bring for my photo shoot?

All equipment except handheld equipment must be approved by the photography department. We do not allow props, smoke machines, pyrotechnics or installation of structures. Note that we do not provide electrical access.

How far in advance do I need to book a permit?

We ask you to book your photography permit at least one week prior to your photo shoot so it allows us enough time to confirm the site availability, to submit your payment to our Finance department and to receive your payment confirmation. Please note that all photography permit inquiries are answered within 72 hours.

I am a teacher and want to come to the site with a group of students to take pictures. Do I need a permit?

A permit is required for any photo shoot. Please contact us directly at photography@evergreen.ca with the following information to see if you can benefit from a fee waiver: name, date of shoot, time of shoot (limited to 2 hours), list of equipment, purpose of the photo shoot and number of students.

I am a student and I want to take pictures for one of my courses. Do I need a permit?

A permit is required for any photo shoot. Please contact us directly at photography@evergreen.ca with the following information to see if you can benefit from a fee waiver: name, date of shoot, time of shoot (limited to 2 hours), copy of your student card, list of equipment and purpose of the photo shoot.

Does the permit include parking?

No, the photography permit does not include a parking fee. Evergreen parking charges and regulations will apply. Please see Getting Here for more information on parking fees.

We have a No Idle Policy on site, and ask any large oversized vehicles to park in the East or West Parking Lots during the photo shoot.

What does the permit include?

Please note that the photography permit does not guarantee you access to the Frances and Tim Price Terrace or the Pavilions, nor exclusivity. These venues can be booked and used at any time by Third Party Events and Evergreen Programs.

Who needs a photography permit?

If you are having a personal photo shoot1 you need to obtain a photography permit. This applies to standard requests including engagement, wedding, family, anniversary and/or group photos, however this is not limited to these specific requests.

Note that permits are not required for casual day-out-with-the-family and tourist shots.
