Outdoor skating rink at Evergreen Brick Works

Public skating and skating lessons are set to resume in 2021-22!

Skating lessons for children and adults are set to begin the week of December 6 (weather and conditions permitting) and the first day of public skating is Sunday, December 12 from 11am-4pm. All participants are to follow current Evergreen policies of COVID-19 and vaccinations found here. For more details, contact us through our email skating@evergreen.ca

The Evergreen Brick Works outdoor skating rink weaves through snow-covered gardens under exposed beams from the roof of the old brick factory.

There's truly no other skating rink like it in the city, especially since it features an ECO CHILL® refrigeration system for sustainable cooling.

The skating rink is only open during the winter season. It is open to the public from December to March, weather permitting. Please be advised that as this is an outdoor rink, the condition of the rink and its availability is weather-dependent.

Skating Lessons

Learn to skate on Evergreen Brick Works' picturesque skating rink. With lessons available from ages 4 to adult, with varying skill levels, there is a lesson for everyone.

Youth Learn to Skate

Youth ages 6-12 can lace up and learn to skate with Evergreen’s skilled instructors on the outdoor rink. Beginner and intermediate skaters can sign up in 4-week sessions.

Adults (ages 16+) can lace up and learn to skate with Evergreen’s skilled instructors on the outdoor rink. Beginner lessons available in 4 week sessions.

Parent and Tot classes are geared toward children 4-6 years old who want to learn to skate for the first time. 4-week sessions available.

Learn to skate during one-on-one sessions with Evergreen’s skilled instructors on the outdoor rink. These lessons are designed for participants of all ages (from children ages 4+ to adults).

Public Skating

Public Skating is offered this winter beginning December 12 and on Sundays throughout the winter. We are also open for public skating between Dec 17-Dec 22. For more detailed schedule scroll down below.

During the winter, Evergreen Brick Works offers free public skating on our rink every weekend Sunday 11am-4pm from December 12th, 2021 to March 6th, 2022.

Skate rentals and skate sharpening are available.

Skating: Policies & Procedures

COVID-19

Proof of vaccination: Participants and spectators over the age of 12 are required to show identification and proof of vaccination each time they enter the rink area.

Daily screening: Participants in all of our skating programs will be asked to fill out a screening form before participating.

Physical distancing: We’ve reduced numbers during skating programs to ensure there’s enough space to comfortably physically distance. We’ve marked off spots in the skate tying area to ensure you can lace up at a safe distance.

Masks: are mandatory during all skate programs, unless there is a medical reason a participant is unable to do so.

Cleaning: Our team is ensuring that any high-touch surfaces, including washrooms are disinfected between time slots & lessons.

Rentals: are thoroughly disinfected after each use.

Refund Requests

To be eligible for refund, cancellations must be requested in writing to skating@evergreen.ca no later than 10 business days prior to the start of classes. Late registration (within 10 business days of class start) will not be eligible for refund. A $20 administration fee will be applied to ALL cancellations.

Requests for refunds within ten business days of class start are granted only under extraordinary circumstances. Such requests are subject to approval and must be accompanied by supporting documentation where relevant (i.e. doctor’s note).

There are NO refunds for cancellations after classes have commenced.

Cancellations by Evergreen

In the case of extreme weather (as classified by Environment Canada and the City of Toronto), Evergreen will cancel lessons. As weather conditions may change unexpectedly, cancellation may be issued after class has started.

Where reasonable, a make-up class will be scheduled. However, due to unsuitable conditions/seasonal restrictions make-up classes may not be possible. Make-up classes are ONLY available if the cancellation is made by Evergreen.

Evergreen will issue an email and phone call to all participants in case of cancellation.

Please note: it is the responsibility of the participant to check for updates on rink conditions/lesson cancellations. Participants should contact skating@evergreen.ca or call 416-596-1496 x324 prior to the start of their class they are unsure of the status of lessons.

Missed Classes

Participants are expected to attend all classes for which they have registered. If a participant is unable to attend, make-up classes, refunds or credits will NOT be provided.

In the event of cancellation by Evergreen, make-up classes will be scheduled wherever possible. If the participant is unable to attend the rescheduled class, no refund will be issued. 

Lessons will be cancelled due to any of the following conditions: heavy precipitation (rain, snow or hail), extreme wind, and/or extreme cold.
