We’re pleased to welcome new crew member Jeremy Zaza to the Eastern Construction team. A co-op student in the Construction Science and Project Management program at George Brown College, Jeremy is spending the summer at Evergreen Brick Works shadowing Construction Manager John Dellaserra. Each year Eastern takes on a student to offer training and a glimpse of the industry in action.
And there is plenty of action down at the site this summer. “There is not a day that goes by in which I’m not in awe of what is going on around me,” says Jeremy, who appreciates the complexities of adaptive reuse, LEED-Platinum construction and the buzz of our summer programming. “We are using various construction methods at once and that makes this placement an invaluable experience for me. Normally it would take a person years of employment and relocation to learn and absorb this many techniques.”
Jeremy will be working until September, when he will return for a fourth and final year of school. Although he finds his courses relevant and enjoyable, he will miss his work term. “This site, the people, the environment—it’s all an experience that I am very grateful to be involved in.”
