Frozen Wild Blueberry Margarita Recipe

Frozen WIld Blueberrie Margarita Recipe. Provided by the Wild Blueberry Association of North America.

The perfect summer drink mixes local wild blueberries with zesty citrus. Yum!

Ingredients for 4 portions:

  • 2 oranges, untreated
  • 3/8 cup (80g) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (80g) wild blueberries from Canada (frozen)
  • ¾ cup (160ml) blueberry juice
  • ½ cup (100ml) lime juice
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp. Lime Juice Cordial
  • 1 ½ cup (300g) crushed Ice


Wash oranges with hot water, then leave to dry. Use potato peeler to finely peel skin of one orange. Squeeze juice from both oranges (¾ cup are needed). Dry orange peel in the oven for 30 minutes at 140 °F (120°F air circulation) and leave to cool. Grind together with 2 tbsp. sugar and spread evenly over a flat plate.

Put blueberries, orange and blueberry juice, 1/3 cup lime juice, remaining sugar, vanilla extract and Lime Juice Cordial as well as crushed ice into a blender and mix.

Spread the remaining lime juice over a flat plate. Dip the edge of the glass first into lime juice, then into the orange sugar. Fill with Margarita and serve immediately.

Preparation time: approx. 10 minutes, plus 30 minutes drying
