FAQs for SWAP
How many items can I swap?
You can swap up to 25 items. If you have more, bring a friend to trade those extra items to share!
Please note: from 2pm-3pm additional swap items can be purchased for $1 per item.
Is each item valued at 1 swap ticket?
Yes. For each time you drop off you will be given 1 ticket in return. If you bring 11 items, you will get 11 tickets in return. Each item dropped has equal value.
What if I don’t have anything to swap?
After 2pm on November 13th, you can purchase swap tickets for $1 per piece.
What if I have more than 25 items to swap?
You will be given no more than 25 swap tickets. If you have more than 25 amazing items to swap, share with a friend who may not have any so that they will also be able to participate.
What items will not be accepted at the swap?
We will not accept:
- Broken items that you would not pass on to a friend
- Large appliances or large furniture
- Products that expire (toiletries, cleaning products, food)
- Plush toys
- Underwear and swimsuit bottoms
- Dirty, ripped or soiled clothing items
- Car seats or helmets
- Clothing with missing buttons or broken zippers
Are you accepting all items?
No. If we feel the item is unsuitable, we will not include it in the swap. Items that will be turned away include but are not limited to: dirty, ripped or soiled clothing items, underwear and swimsuit bottoms, car seats or helmets, clothing with missing buttons or broken zippers, products that expire (toiletries, cleaning products, food), plush toys and large appliances or large furniture.
Will you have plus-size clothing, designer goods or vintage dresses?
Hopefully! It’s all in the luck of what is dropped off. Considering the shapes and styles of the people that visit Evergreen Brick Works, anything is possible!
Can I drop off a used bike?
No, unfortunately we will not be accepting bikes at this event.
Is there drop-off parking available?
If you plan on driving to drop things off, you have to pay for parking time at the meters on site. Alternatively, you can take the free shuttle down! If you plan on coming down earlier for the Farmers Market or other event, check the advance drop off times to avoid a second trip.
How does the Swap Mall work?
All items will be sorted into appropriate categories like Women’s Wear, Sports Equipment and Recreation, Household items, Children’s clothing, Baby items, Entertainment/Media, Men’s Wear, Accessories, etc. Tables and rolling racks of clothes will be set up inside the BMO Atrium, Young Welcome Centre and Building 14. Once you pay your $2 admission fee, your hand will be stamped and you will be free to wander around and select items.
What should I bring on the day of the swap if I’ve already dropped off goods?
Bring your swap tickets and bags for bringing home anything you pick up. Bring some extra cash to enjoy the seasonal menu in the Container Market.
What should I wear?
Comfortable shoes to walk around our site. We suggest wearing leggings or tight pants and tank tops so that you can try on the items over your clothes.
Will there be a place to try on clothes?
No, there will be no dressing rooms available. Please wear clothing you can wear underneath items, such as leggings and tank tops, if you want to try something on.
How can I show off my items on social media?
Use the hashtag #ebwswap on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
What are you doing with the leftover items?
Any items left over will be donated to Oasis Clothing Bank or to New Circles (a charity assisting Syrian refugees). http://clothingbank.ca/ http://newcircles.ca/
