Melanie Francis

Director, People & Culture

As Evergreen’s Director, People & Culture, Melanie leads Evergreen’s Human Resource and Volunteer & Engagement teams, with the goal of making Evergreen the best possible place to work and volunteer.   Melanie is constantly inspired by the amazing skills and ideas of her colleagues, and believes it is her role to help create the type of supportive and inclusive environment necessary for them to shine.  She knows that increasing the diversity of voices at Evergreen is integral to the success of its mission, and is working collaboratively with Evergreen’s Indigenous Inclusion Working Group and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to make that happen.

Prior to joining Evergreen in May of 2019, Melanie spent a number of years in the political sphere, including as the Executive Director, Human Resources & Labour Relations in the Office of the Premier of Ontario under Kathleen Wynne.  Melanie holds a law degree from the University of Ottawa and practiced for a number of years in the areas of labour & employment and elections law.  Prior to that, Melanie attended Wilfrid Laurier University for her undergrad, where she received a B.A. in political science and psychology.
