Realizing Our Potential: Future Cities Canada Summit
Inaugural gathering of 500-plus tackles challenges facing cities – Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, November 7-9, 2018
(TORONTO, ON – September 24, 2018) Future Cities Canada, a new nation-wide city-building initiative, hosts its inaugural gathering of international and national urban leaders at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, Ontario on November 7 to 9, 2018. Realizing Our Potential: Future Cities Canada Summit, convened by Evergreen and the Urban Land Institute (ULI), brings together city leaders, urban innovators from the private sector, and municipal practitioners to address shared challenges and explore potential solutions to creating more inclusive, resilient and smarter cities.
“Cities around the world are experiencing transformative change full of new ideas, new technologies and new opportunities for public participation. This is Canada’s big urban moment,” said Geoff Cape, Evergreen CEO. “The Future Cities Canada Summit is the first cross-sectoral convening of Canada’s great urban innovators to help co-create the important and necessary work of investing in our urban future. With our local, national and international partners, we can set a global example of how cities must be built not just for today, but for the future.”
Cities are changing at a rapid rate due to disruptive forces such as climate change, demographic shifts and technology. At a time of unprecedented change, Evergreen is bringing together more than 500 of the leading minds in city building to create a new urban agenda. Summit attendees will hear from over 50 leaders at the forefront of shaping future cities and communities on topics ranging from data governance and infrastructure resilience to finance and collaboration. Through more than 25 sessions – including keynote, plenary presentations and hands-on workshops and tours – the Summit provides a unique opportunity for participants to obtain tools and skills to identify opportunities for scaling innovations and build new relationships to realize the potential of cities together.
