New season of Summer Wednesdays kicks off July 3rd at Evergreen Brick Works

TORONTO, ONTARIO (June 24, 2019) – Bring on the warm summer nights! Another season of Summer Wednesdays returns to Evergreen Brick Works, a free mid-week destination offering some of the best local food, drink and outdoor activities in the heart of Toronto’s Don Valley. This year Evergreen has teamed up with Café Belong to treat outdoor diners to delicious menus made in the wood-fired oven. Led by Chef Brad Long, the menus feature seasonal ingredients sourced from Evergreen's Saturday Farmers Market and Feast ON certified vendors. The evenings also offer delicious dishes by rotating list of local food trucks and outdoor activities from yoga on the Terrace to nature play in the Children’s Garden. The summer fun runs on Wednesdays from July 3 to August 28, 2019, 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Children's Garden will be transformed into the must-eat destination for mouth-watering dishes by Café Belong. Each week Chef Brad Long prepares a new menu of locally-sourced products, ranging from Ontario beef brisket and smoked sturgeon to ratatouilles and plant-based proteins, all accompanied by seasonal vegetables and freshly baked breads. For dessert, Summer Wednesday guests can indulge in sweet dishes like strawberry shortcake, a homemade spin on the classic ice cream sandwich and DIY Bannock Bars. Dishes will be served from the wood-fired oven until 8:30 p.m., or while supplies last. Check online for what’s on each week throughout the season.

The Pavilions will be home to a selection of award-winning food trucks offering up a diverse line-up of street food for every taste bud. Guests can kick back with a cold drink from The Sipping Container while taking in one of the live music and art performances. This year guests can take in vintage jazz, soul funk music, 90s hip-hip as well as choreographed dances to Johnny Cash. Visit the schedule online for details on the food truck and live performances.

For more outdoor activity, visitors can soak up the setting sun with a walk through the 40-acre area that surrounds Evergreen Brick Works, hike up to the lookout to take in an incredible view of the Toronto skyline or an outdoor session of yoga at 6 p.m. on the Frances and Tim Price Terrace overlooking the pond. The popular Children`s Garden is open to the public from 5:30 p.m. to dusk letting little hands build, dig, garden, and play in nature.

Evergreen’s Summer Wednesdays is a season-long celebration of food and community, creating a meeting place where people can be active outdoors and engaged with others – key ingredients to building flourishing cities.
