Aquatic Stewardship and Conservation Grant

The Unilever – Evergreen Aquatic Stewardship and Conservation Grant program supports education and restoration projects that are small-scale, community-driven, increase public awareness of sustainable water use, provide meaningful opportunities for community action and promote the wise use of water resources through educational and hands-on activities.

2010 is the last year for the Unilever Aquatic Stewardship and Conservation grant program. Projects in this category will be eligible for Green Grants in 2011.


Eligibility

  • Available to community groups across Canada. Projects must be located in or close to a city or town.
  • Applicants may be required to work with at least one institutional partner in the planning, design and impletentation of their projects.
  • Aquatic restoration projects must be located on publicly accessible lands.
  • This grant may also be used by community organizations to deliver hands-on activities that promote the protection and sustainable use of local water resources.

Eligible Expenses

Eligible expenses include:

  • Native plant material (plants, trees, shrubs, wildflowers)
  • Gardening supplies and tools
  • Landscaping
  • Professional services
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Health and safety supplies
  • Educational and communications materials
  • Transportation

How to Apply

In 2010, there will be no intake round for this grant program. The application posted below is for reference only.


Grant Recipient Responsibilities

If your project is selected, you will be asked to:

  • Obtain all necessary permits and approvals
  • Submit photos, news clippings, receipts and a final report to Evergreen
  • Follow funder recognition guidelines and agree to participate, if requested, in the promotion of your project locally and/or nationally (e.g. press release or press event)
