Geoff is a co-founder of Evergreen and has been its executive director since our inception in 1991. Selected in 1999 as one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40” by The Globe and Mail Report on Business magazine, Geoff has also been honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of “Canadians who have made outstanding and exemplary contributions to their communities or to Canada as a whole.” In 2005, Cape was inducted into an International Fellowship by Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. In 2007, Cape won the prestigious Schwab Foundation’s “Canadian Social Entrepreneur of the Year” Award, Canada’s top social entrepreneurship honour. Cape is currently a board member of Parc Downsview Park, is on the Steering Committee of Lake Ontario Park, was founding Chair of the Sustainability Institute, and is a past member of the Peter F. Drucker Foundation Selection Committee.
Since joining Evergreen in 1999, Stewart has developed a variety of unique projects and resources to support the urban greening efforts of land use professionals and grassroots organizations. These include guidebooks, research reports, municipal policy guidelines and case studies. He led the growth of Common Grounds national community grant program that has become a one of the largest funders of urban habitat restoration and community gardening initiatives. He also developed and facilitated professional training workshops and seminars across Canada. A member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, Stewart has worked extensively in the planning and environmental fields in the private and public sectors and speaks regularly at conferences and workshops across the country.
Director of Evergreen’s award-winning Learning Grounds Program since 1997, Cam has overseen the establishment of a national network of school ground design professionals, the creation of a large suite of print and web-based publications, the establishment of pioneering partnerships with schools boards across Canada and the distribution of over $1 million in grants to schools. A qualified teacher, with a specialty in outdoor and experiential education, he has worked in a variety of public and private educational settings. Cam is a regular presenter at conferences, universities and in the media on topics of school ground greening, environmental education, and the connection between children and nature.
Seana Irvine currently leads the development of all on-site programming at Evergreen Brick Works project. Seana is primarily responsible for guiding the growth of Evergreen’s Common Grounds and Learning Grounds programs. She also works closely with staff in the design and delivery of community outreach programs, resources and national workshops. Since joining Evergreen in 1997, she has helped the organization to grow, leading the strategic direction for the programs and managing Evergreen’s first international project in Havana, Cuba.

David Stonehouse was responsible for the design, planning and construction work that led to Evergreen Brick Works, and has been the facility’s General Manager since September 2010. David was the Coordinator of the City of Toronto’s Task Force to Bring Back the Don between 1991 and 1998. An urban planner, David handled policy files related to parks, open space, heritage and the environment while with the Policy and Research unit of the Toronto City Planning Division (1999 to 2002). David is a past member of International Joint Commission’s Science Advisory Board, a Canada-US organization that monitors scientific issues associated with the environment of the Great Lakes. David has been an advisor on restoration projects in Cuba, Bolivia, United Kingdom (Liverpool) and United States (Pittsburgh), as well as a lecturer in Urban Studies at the University of Toronto (Innis College). A graduate of the University of Toronto (BA, MScPl), David is a registered professional planner and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
