Headquartered in Scarborough, Ontario, TCI oversees all divisions of Toyota sales, marketing, parts, service, as well as Lexus and industrial equipment operations in Canada. TCI’s five zone offices coordinate vehicle sales, parts and service operations for Dealers in all 10 provinces and three territories. There are 233 Toyota Dealers located throughout Canada, of which 211 are exclusively Toyota, 22 are Toyota/Lexus and five are exclusively Lexus.
Toyota’s environmental responsibility is showcased in the development of the environmentally friendly Prius. Introduced in 1997, new environmental technologies made Prius the first mass-produced gasoline/electric hybrid, and has since become Toyota’s environmental ambassador. Originally launched in Canada in 2000 as a compact car, Toyota unveiled the completely redesigned 2004 model in the autumn of 2003.
Now larger, it is a mid-sized vehicle, more powerful and equipped with many more features, yet the emissions and the rate of fuel consumption have been reduced, increasing the vehicle’s overall energy efficiency. Toyota plans to release several more hybrids into the marketplace over the next few years.
Throughout Canada, Toyota prides itself in building close, cooperative relationships with a wide spectrum of individuals and organizations involved in environmental preservation including suppliers, governments and the many communities in which we live and work.
