Celebrating 20 years of making cities more livable

In 1991, three fresh-faced university grads named Geoff Cape, Kevin McLaughlin and Lindsey Taylor launched an organization called Evergreen to bring nature to urban Canadian schools and public spaces.

Since then, thanks to the passion, energy and commitment of our partners, staff and volunteers, Evergreen’s programs and initiatives have brought nature to communities in every corner of the country. So far, we have:

  • Provided $5.8-million in grants to naturalize more than 3,600 schools, parks and public spaces across Canada
  • Engaged almost a million students at more than 3,000 schools
  • Facilitated more than 2,500 community greening events and workshops, involving more than a 190,000 people

We invite you to join us as we celebrate Evergreen’s 20th Anniversary. Visit our Events Calendar to find an Evergreen project in a community near you. Join us as we embark on a new and exciting chapter, and another 20 years making our cities more livable.

The festivities start this April with Earth Month activities in Vancouver and the GTA.
